We are launching QuRA.space (Quantum Rydberg Antenna), a Warsaw-based quantum technology company spun off from our lab. QuRA.space builds Rydberg-atom radio-frequency sensors for space missions and dual-use applications, turning years of our research at the University of Warsaw into instruments ready for orbit.

An atomic sensor measures electromagnetic fields from DC to terahertz in a single compact system that works at room temperature and withstands strong RF pulses. The team – Michał Parniak, Mateusz Mazelanik, Rafał Ołdziejewski and Sebastian Borówka – combines atomic physics, quantum optics, RF engineering and system design.

QuRA.space is developing a Rydberg RF detection system for the European Space Agency in the RYDAR project, together with Thales Alenia Space, moving the technology from a laboratory optical table to a ruggedised, rack-based mobile demonstrator (see also our earlier news about the ESA project).
